I've thought a lot about how to cast Druss the Legend. I would love to see the role played by Ray Winstone (played Bors in Antoine Fuqua's King Arthur, 2004).

I am thinkin e-9 or lower. Definitely an NCO required! Must look like an axeman of course. Time in the field coudna hurt.

Connery certainly has far more recognition and brings creditibility, to say nothing of box office sales, to the effort. But, I believe Winstone's portrayal of Druss would be more in keeping with the character of Druss, as well as keeping Gemmell's long-time fans from panning it.

As I'm a new member, I thought I'd throw in another suggestion for an Older Druss - James Cosmo. He's the big Scot who has been in Braveheart, Troy and the TV series Roughnecks. Druss to me is a big booming Scot and I'm afraid Sean Connery is hardly that. As for Ray Winstone - no, no, no and no! Sorry!
I'd like to see Gerard Butler as a younger Druss. I'd like to say it's his great acting skills, but I'd be lying. I'm picking him for obvious reasons!! LOL

LOL, yeah its not the eye candy for you is it judith. LOL Theres a few people who'd like James and lets face it he is pretty ideal for the role.

I think Ron Perlman (Hellboy) would be brilliant as Druss. Maybe not the most obvious choice but he plays an ax-man in a Jason Statham movie called in "In the Name of the King". The movie is awful but Perlman is brilliant!

I think you may have something there. Hes no a Scot but he s alright if he can avoid the Vincent thing. He is also big and can handle a blade. alien 3 keeps popping into mind though.
